About the Event
New and rapidly developing technologies allowed the 20th century to be the most visually documented of any era. Movies, photography and new printing methods recorded the sweeping changes that occurred as people moved from the countryside to cities and as the Industrial Revolution came to dominate the rhythms of life.
Join us as presenter Cece D'Arville of the Virginia Museum of History and Culture explores themes of urbanization, social change and politics represented by the photograph and manuscript collections of the Virginia Museum of History and Culture.
D'Arville serves as the education coordinator at the museum, alongside a talented group of educators and docents that provide in-person and virtual student programs, teacher outreach and community-based programming.
