Join AARP’s community of 60,000-plus volunteers and donate your time and talent — in person or from home — to improve the lives of older Americans and their families right here in North Dakota. To learn more about how to put your skills to work, call the AARP North Dakota office toll-free at 866-554-5383, or contact Doreen Streyle at dstreyle@aarp.org or 701-355-3643.

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

Event Volunteers: Opportunities include serving as a greeter online or in-person, presenting on various topics, introducing speakers, or serving as a discussion leader.

Advocacy Volunteers: Our advocacy volunteers help us build relationships with local elected officials and engage in issues important to our members and their families

Driver Safety Instructors: The Driver Safety program is seeking instructors throughout North Dakota. As a Driver Safety instructor, you would conduct four-hour driver safety classes geared toward people 50-plus in your community. New instructors receive training before conducting a class.

Speakers’ Bureau: A great opportunity to present to small groups across North Dakota. AARP Speakers Bureau volunteers work from a portfolio of topics (brain health, fraud, finances, retirement planning, HomeFit, and more). Volunteers receive training, support, and presentation materials.

Tax-Aide: The Tax-Aide program provides free tax preparation to low- and middle-income taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older. The program is run entirely by volunteers. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers do not need tax preparation experience.

Social Media, Telephone Town Halls: A simple way to help is to share AARP ND Facebook posts and spread the word among your friends. Another volunteer opportunity includes screening callers during telephone town hall events.

Learn More: Training will be provided for all these roles. To learn more about any of these volunteer opportunities, contact Doreen Streyle at dstreyle@aarp.org or by calling 701-355-3643.
