AARP To Sponsor Free Rides To Vote On Election Day

Posted on 10/29/24

AARP Tennessee is helping voters “Roll To The Polls” on Election Day. To help make sure all voices are heard in the 2024 General Election, AARP Tennessee has partnered with both public transit authorities and private volunteer-driver programs across the state to offer free rides to polling locations.

So, if you live in parts of Nashville, Chattanooga, Memphis and West Tennessee, AARP is making voting a little easier.

“We are excited to partner with these organizations to help ensure registered voters have a viable transportation option for voting in-person on November 5,” said AARP Tennessee State Director Mia McNeil. “Voters 50+ represent the largest voting bloc in our state and this sponsorship removes transportation barriers for those who no longer drive or have mobility issues.”

Voters 50+ are the driving force behind every election. They’re not just voting; they’re grappling with the everyday challenges that come with caring for parents, siblings and other loved ones, and protecting their hard-earned Social Security.

These sponsorships include rides taken on November 5, 2024. Free rides to polling locations will be available on the following transportation systems:

Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA)

Nashville – Senior Ride

Chattanooga Area Regional Transit Authority (CARTA)

MyRide McNairy County

To help make sure voters 50+ are informed about how, when and where to vote in Tennessee, AARP has launched a comprehensive source for information related to voting in Tennessee at www.aarp.org/TNvotes.
