Pickle Springs Natural Area is a geological wonderland with scenic waterfalls and cool box canyons that harbor unusual plants and animals.
There are several species of plants and animals that originate from the time after the last glacial period approximately 12,000 years ago. These glacial relict species include the four-toed salamander, hay-scented fern, large whorled pogonia, rattlesnake plantain and shining clubmoss. Walking along Pickle Creek you might spot a pickerel frog, green frog, or southern leopard frog jump into the water.
