Join us for an inspiring talk reminding African Americans of their resilience and power.
About the Event
The recognition of Juneteenth is significant for Western North Carolina and the nation because it illuminates the complicated and often overlooked history and heritage of the fight for freedom. It reminds us that there is an ongoing struggle for civil rights, social justice and equality in our country and around the world.
This presentation will encourage participants to recognize individuals and communities working to support equality and justice for all. It will also encourage African Americans to take the opportunity to understand our history and identity and accept that we are resilient and powerful. We can reclaim our stories and celebrate our achievements with pride and community spirit and hope for the future.
