AARP Hearing Center
This month, we’ll explore danger signs indicating a scammer’s fraudulent link, the risks of clicking on one, and what to do if it happens.
About the Event
Join AARP Washington’s monthly Fraud Watch Fridays series to get tips on staying safe in the digital world. If you're wondering how to secure your bank account, spot a phishing email or avoid the latest text or robocall scam, these events are for you! Each session starts with a short presentation on the latest fraud updates, and then we take audience questions on any fraud-related subject.
The August topic is what happens when you click a scammer’s fraudulent link, what it exposes your device to, and what information fraudsters can get from you this way. We’ll share steps to take before clicking a suspicious link, what to look out for once you do it, and how to do damage control if you click a bad link from a fraudster. The session is presented with the support of the credit union BECU.
