Established in 1910 by my grandparents, Fred and Jessie Lemka, as Glenwood Fruit Farm and Dairy, this 300+ acre farm has been ever changing over 3 generations in order to keep up with the times.
Many people in the area will remember Appleland Farms, operated by Raymond and Suzanne Lemka from 1951 to 1993. Its retail location was located on Rts 9 & 20, in the former East Greenbush United methodist Church building.
We, Kristine and Ken Johnson, returned to the farm in 1993 and in 2001 decided to move the retail farm stand back to the farm, renaming the business The Farm at Kristy's Barn.
We are a Low spray, No spray farm, which means we spray our crops ONLY when we absolutely Need to, & when we do, we spray minimally. We do this for our consumer's health, as well as for the safety & health of the environment, & the creatures we share it with!
Our farm market changes to reflect the seasonal changes. Our goal is to provide our customers with the freshness & quality they seek. We produce fruits, vegetables, pasture-raised chicken, numerous varieties of flowers, a full assortment of baked goods, jams, preservatives, salsas, pickled vegetables, honey, syrup, cheeses, & more. If we don't grow it or we are between crops, we purchase high quality products, grown as locally as possible.
