In November of 1991, volunteers who worked for United Christian Ministries started the Pickens County Free Medical Clinic. There was a need for free medical care for the less fortunate, so these volunteers formed the free clinic. Every Monday night, the clinic was held in a classroom at the B.J. Skelton Career Center in Pickens. Medical supplies were kept in boxes that were transported in and out each week by volunteers who arrived early to turn the classroom into a medical clinic. Approximately 20 patients were seen each week. They were screened, checked in by a nurse, and examined in one room. A curtain was all that separated the physician and patient from others waiting to be seen.

The clinic relocated to West End Hall in Easley in 1993, and had approximately 1,200 square feet of office space. With this additional space they were able to provide a pharmacy, lab, four exam rooms, and a small office. Although the clinic acquired more room, they began to grow tremendously and lack of space became a big issue.

In April of 2002, Pickens County Free Medical Clinic and United Christian Ministries applied for a Community Development Block Grant and was awarded the funding to purchase a new building. They purchased a 7,000 square foot facility located at 303 Dacusville Highway in Easley. The building is shared by both organizations.

The clinic changed its name from Pickens County Free Medical Clinic to Samaritan Health Clinic of Pickens County in September of 2005. Due to the growth of both United Christian Ministries and the clinic, in 2007 Good Samaritan Alliance purchased the lot next door for future planning.
