Our Mission: MARC: Community Resources empowers adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities to realize their dreams and make choices about their lives. To honor and help fulfill these dreams, we provide people with choices for housing, employment, and social/recreational life.

Our History: MARC: Community Resources has advocated for the rights of people with disabilities since 1955. In that year, eight Middletown families worked tirelessly over countless hours to inform the public about the educational needs of their children. Slowly they opened doors not only for their own children but also for many others who today attend school like any other child. They also opened minds, prompting communities to become more inclusive of people with disabilities.

Our Programs: Today, MARC: Community Resources has grown into a multi-faceted organization with 100 paid staff. We serve more than 200 adults and children with disabilities in employment, vocational, leisure and self-advocacy programs:

  • Residential Programs: We operate four group homes and a supported living program. The program supports the individual needs of each consumer and recognizes and values their preferences.
  • Vocational & Leisure Services: Offers a unique variety of opportunities for adults with disabilities, including group and individual supported employment, volunteer work, independent living skills training, meaningful community experiences, and other recreational activities.
  • Adult Skill Development & Leisure Program: Provides fun, educational, community-based recreational opportunities to more than 100 adults. The program also provides critically needed respite time for families.
  • Saturday Morning Fun and Friends at MARC: A collaboration with Middletown Parks & Recreation for children with disabilities from the age of 6 and up and their families. We provide fun, new experiences that create opportunities for social success and growth.
  • Self Advocacy - The Guardian Angels: Our self-advocacy program focuses on enabling people to get involved and, as much as possible, to do things for themselves. This includes advocating on their own behalf, for their own well-being.
  • Family Support & Advocacy: We work with families to help them access available services and to find ways around barriers.
