Our Mission

The Lincoln-Sudbury Civic Orchestra (LSCO) is an ensemble of talented amateur and semi-professional musicians, who love to prepare and perform classic orchestral literature. Founded in 1973 as a way for LSRHS students to experience the rigors and joys of performing great orchestral music in original professional scores, the LSCO draws most of its student members from LSRHS. In addition to Lincoln and Sudbury, the LSCO attracts its adult members from nearby towns such as Wayland, Maynard, Hudson, Natick, Wellesley, Lexington and from towns as far away as Andover. The collaboration between youth and experience gives students the confidence and support necessary to succeed in playing difficult orchestral literature and provides adults a way to give back to the community, while giving all players a way to share their joy of music.

In residence at the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, the LSCO performs two concerts annually in the beautiful LSRHS Rogers Auditorium. Concert repertoire includes works by Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20th and 21st century composers.

The LSCO's goal is to create a rewarding concert experience for both the players and its audience. Music is selected from the literature with this in mind. The literature also serves to foster the musical growth of the players. The experience of performing great music, which might otherwise lie just beyond the member's reach, creates an equally important goal; that of creating a bond between its members, young and old, as they share the risks, rewards and challenges of making great orchestral music.
