Kirby Free Library

105 State Route 29A
Salisbury Center, NY 13454

315-429-9006
The library started in 1967 as a Reading Center and was run by an all-volunteer staff. At the time the library was located in an old school building and was only open for 10 hours a week. The library then moved to the post office building, and it was at this time that the volunteers decided to build an actual library building. They contacted people to receive grants and bought the property on which the library is located today. The library received a grant from the FM Kirby Foundation from which it received the name,"Kirby Free Library." The staff remained all volunteer for thirty years until a full-time library was hired. Now the staff is made up of a paid librarian and volunteers. The library serves the Town of Salisbury and its surrounding communities.
