Hangar 25 Air Museum

Hangar 25 Air Museum is housed in a fully restored WWII era hangar. From the moment you drive up to the front of this impressive red brick structure, set against a massive Texas sky, the experience begins. Standing strong and tall, like the military personnel who served here during WWII, the Korean war and the Vietnam conflict, this home to military traditions and memories, seems to entice you to come in, and see what stories it has to share.

You will rarely find a more hospitable greeting than the one you will receive when you first come through the door. Often our museum is staffed by retired Veterans and Civil Employees who are ready to share their memories of the hangar when it was a hub of activity, first, during WWII as the Big Spring Bombardier School and later when it was reopened as Webb Air Force Base, and used to train over 10,000 pilots between 1952 and 1977.

Stepping onto the main floor of the hangar, the sight of aircraft and artifacts from the past begins to take you to another time. After all, you are literally walking in the footsteps of the men and women who fought for our freedom through three wars. It is a humbling experience to stand at the nose of an AT- 11 Kansan, and imagine what it must have been like to be the bombardier, using a state-of-the-art Norden Bombsight to attack the target.

There is a lot of history to encounter here, and our description cannot do it justice. We must suggest once again that you come to Big Spring, Texas and experience for yourself, the history, heritage, and the honor that is Hangar 25 Air Museum. Incidentally, since opening our doors in May of 1999, Hangar 25 Air Museum has hosted more than 30,000 visitors from all 50 states and 31 foreign countries.
