Evangeline Parish Library - Mamou Branch Library

317 2nd Street Suite A
Mamou, LA 70554

337-468-5750

The branch library has many volumes on its shelves of all literary genres, receives current newspapers and magazines regularly, and offers free internet access to the public, as well as fax and xerographic copying services. It also has audio, VHS, and DVD collections and a computer especially set up with a larger monitor and Magic™ software to aid patrons with limited vision.

During the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the Mamou Branch was staffed at short notice on Labor Day to aid the many evacuees from New Orleans housed next door in the Teen Center, as they struggled with FEMA forms and tried to find missing loved ones through Internet searches. Many of the evacuees had been surviving on rooftops for days before being rescued by helicopters and brought by bus to Mamou. Mamou Branch staff were proud to do their part to help them for weeks and even months following Katrina.
