“Fire in the Streets” retells the story of the Denver West High School Walkouts, in which 150 Chicano students walked out of school in 1969 in protest of racism and marginalization in the public school system.

Su Teatro commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Denver West High School Walkouts by telling the story in vivid performance of that pivotal day in 1969 when students were met with tear gas, police batons and arrests in an event remembered as “The West High Blowouts.”
