Photo Murals to Showcase Chicago's Caregivers

Posted on 10/31/20

AARP in Chicago is showcasing photo murals of caregivers and their loved ones in five city neighborhoods to honor National Family Caregivers Month.

Faces of Care is a multineighborhood project that will feature giant portraits of five older adults and their caregivers in each of the five ethnically and economically diverse neighborhoods: Bronzeville, Chinatown, Pilsen/Little Village, North Side and South Side.

AARP in Chicago will hire five photographers from across the city to produce 50 portraits. The photos will be hung on the buildings of AARP community partners.

“The project is a tribute to caregivers everywhere, who provide crucial and loving care to the older adults in our communities,” said Monika Wnuk, associate state director at AARP Illinois.

Showcasing the murals will lead into the virtual Caminando Juntos caregiving conference, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 14, on Facebook Live.

AARP Illinois will host the Spanish-language event, featuring presentations about services, panels for caregivers and self-care workshops. To register, visit
