New Law to Help Victims of Investment Fraud

Posted on 09/30/23 by The AARP Bulletin

A new state law has created a restitution fund to help pay back older North Dakotans who have lost money to investment fraud.

Under the law—for which AARP North Dakota advocated—individuals age 65 or older affected by securities fraud can apply to be at least partially reimbursed by the new restitution fund. The state may pay up to 50 percent of what a victim is owed or $50,000, whichever is less.
