Meet Shannon, Our New Intern!

Posted on 06/15/22

Hello, AARP members in Maine!

My name is Shannon Colbert and I am thrilled to join the AARP Maine team as the new Outreach, Advocacy and Communications intern. I hope to meet many of you during my time here.

I am originally from Plymouth, MA, but I've been living in Maine for the last 5 years pursuing a college degree. I got my undergraduate degree in Finance and Marketing and I'm now working on getting my Masters in Policy, Planning, and Management with a concentration in Public Policy. I attend the University of Southern Maine in Gorham. I was a member of the USM Women’s Ice Hockey team for the past 5 years and served as team captain for 4 of those years.

Just before joining the AARP Maine team, I held a Marketing and Communications internship at the Maine Lobstermen’s Association where I worked to advocate for local Maine lobstermen, and I'm excited at the opportunity to build upon this advocacy work during my time here at AARP.

Please feel free to contact me anytime at, and I wish you a wonderful summer!
