Chris Palmer enjoys traveling around the world while advocating and volunteering for initiatives that matter the most.

The New York City native attended Roosevelt Hospital School of Nursing. After graduating, she became a travel nurse where she was able to work in Saudi Arabia for seven years. Although Palmer is a retired nurse, she is currently working as a utilization review nurse.

Palmer started as an AARP Georgia volunteer four years ago. She enjoys holding workshops for caregiving and fraud. When it comes to Disrupt Aging, Palmer believes that someone shouldn’t be put into a category based on their age.

“People need to realize just because people get older they don’t lose what they experienced or what they gained throughout the years,” Palmer said. “They are still valuable members of the workforce and the community.”

Palmer continues to disrupt aging by staying active with working and volunteering. She is currently taking a course with Georgia Medicare to conduct workshops that will educate the public on the benefits of Medicare.

“I am very active with AARP, and I work five days a week,” Palmer said.

In her free time, she loves to read, travel, and color. She loves to learn about other cultures and talk to people. Her passion is to be able to help people understand what their benefits are and how to protect themselves.

“I think one of the most powerful organizations is AARP. I always tell people how much AARP advocates and how it contributes to our lives and what we do,” Palmer said. “I just want people to know that and understand that.”
