AARP Georgia volunteer Charlotte Earley is passionate about helping other people in her community. Volunteering with AARP Georgia allows Earley to do just that.

The Macon, Georgia, native attended Fort Valley College, where she studied business education. While she lived in New Jersey, she was a case manager for the Appellate Court. She then moved back to Macon to take care of her mother, who had Alzheimer’s. Earley and her sister decided to stay home since most of their family remained in Macon.

“After my mom passed, I decided I needed something else to do,” Earley said. “My husband was already a member of AARP Georgia, so I decided that I should see what AARP is like. That’s how I got into AARP.

Earley has been an AARP Georgia volunteer for three and a half years. She says that AARP has helped her learn a lot about Macon.

“When I did join, AARP has helped me learn about my community and how my community has grown. It so different from when I grew up here,” Earley said.

In her free time, Earley enjoys watching movies, exercising, dancing, and listening to music, but her main passion is taking care of people.

“My mom was the first time I was a caregiver. I think that has always been a part of me to take care of people,” Earley said. “I love to be around people and caring for them.”
