Help Massachusetts Refresh Age and Dementia-Friendly Action Plan

Posted on 06/03/24 by Ted Carey

Massachusetts is set to refresh its Age-Friendly Massachusetts Action Plan and the Commonwealth needs your help.

In 2018, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts was among the first states in the nation to join AARP’s Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities. As part of the designation, the commonwealth submitted an action plan in 2019. The plan, ReiMAgine Aging, commits the state, in collaboration with partner organizations, to make Massachusetts more livable and welcoming for people of all ages.

Check out the original plan here.

Now, it’s time to update and refresh the plan. This plan will guide the state's age- and dementia-friendly actions for the next 5-10 years.

To make the updated plan successful, the Executive Office of Elder Affairs wants input from residents and community partners. As part of this refresh, the Executive Office of Elder Affairs will host listening sessions statewide. The office is hoping to gather feedback on community priorities and new opportunities for supporting positive aging. The sessions will look into how priorities have shifted over the past five years and identify significant actions or policies that need to be tweaked.
