Enter your Pet in Grand Valley Virtual Pet Parade
Pet owners, what would life be without our loyal, supportive, comforting pets? It’s time to celebrate these unsung heroes of 2020 by including them in the first Grand Valley Virtual Pet Parade Contest. The parade of pets will be shown July 4, on the AARP CO Facebook page.
To honor your pet and take a chance to win a $75 gift card to a local pet supply shop, submit your favorite photo of your dog, cat, iguana, fish, or whatever animal you call family, between June 25 and July 1. The photo can be serious, athletic or funny - anything that captures your pet’s unique personality.
All photos will be on video parade on the AARP Colorado website on July 4.
“I was just trying to think of something fun and positive to put out there for AARP people to get involved with,” said AARP Colorado volunteer and pet parade originator Brenda Jones. “Our pets are like family and we love showing them off so I thought a virtual photo contest of these amazing companions would be perfect. I pitched it to our AARP team and we all developed it from there. We brainstormed and planned and hope it’s a success.”
Jones, along with AARP Colorado volunteers Ja Nev Marshall, Sandy Dalenberg and Terri Potente, a former AARP Colorado state president, will serve as judges for the contest for best photo submitted and winner of the $75 pet supply gift card.
“We’re hoping this will be the first in a series,” said AARP Colorado senior program specialist Allison Snyder, who will develop the pet parade video.
“We’ve already had fun putting this together and we hope people will enjoy reviewing their best photos of their most precious pets,” Jones said.
Don’t wait! Submit your favorite photo of your pet hero and prepare to watch the fabulous July 4th video parade of all these special animals.
