Alabama Organizations Awarded 4 AARP Community Challenge Grants

AARP is committed to making communities more livable for people of all ages. 

As part of that mission, AARP awards Community Challenge grants to fund projects that improve public spaces, housing, transportation, civic engagement, coronavirus recovery, and diversity and inclusion.

AARP Alabama announced that four organizations earned quick-action grants for 2021. Winners are:

  • Foley Main Street, for work on a small pocket park
  • Freshwater Land Trust, to improve the Highlands Connector trail in Birmingham
  • Monroeville Main Street, for upgrades to the town’s Main Street area
  • River Region Trails, for work on a walking trail in Montgomery.
