Beat the Heat with this year's Summer Film Series at the Briscoe!
Join us again in the beautiful, relaxing, and cool Jack Guenther Pavilion for this year's sizzling selections. This summer, we dive into the pages of three amazing literary works that were crafted into amazing cinema.
We begin our Literary Cinematic journey in a really BIG way. Every page from Edna Ferber's 1952 novel Giant reminds us of the impression of Texas BIGNESS. The imaginative and descriptive story came to life on the silver screen in 1956 with some of the BIGGEST names in Hollywood.
Starring Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor, and, notoriously, in his last film before his tragic death, James Dean. The performances and director George Steven's vision of Texas play out in far West Texas. The making of Giant had lasting effects on the area and the city of Marfa.
The film is included with general museum admission and FREE for museum members.
Enjoy complimentary popcorn, candy, and beverages, including beer and wine for guests 21+. Beer courtesy of Ranger Creek Brewery.

About the Film
Giant is a 1956 American epic Western drama film directed by George Stevens, from a screenplay adapted by Fred Guiol and Ivan Moffat from Edna Ferber's 1952 novel.
The film stars Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, and James Dean and features Carroll Baker, Jane Withers, Chill Wills, Mercedes McCambridge, Dennis Hopper, Sal Mineo, Rod Taylor, Elsa Cárdenas and Earl Holliman. Giant was the last of Dean's three films as a leading actor, earning him his second and last Academy Award nomination. He was killed in a car crash before the film was released. His friend Nick Adams was called in to do some voice dubbing for Dean's role.
In 2005, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”
