About the Event
First Day Hikes is a national-led effort that encourages individuals and families to experience, with a seasoned guide, the beautiful natural and cultural resources found in the outdoors and in doing so may inspire them to take advantage of these treasures throughout the year and an individual’s lifetime. Nature has been proven to boost our moods and make us feel healthy and exploring the outdoors is the perfect way to start the new year.
Location: Meet our park interpretive staff in front of the Carpinteria State Beach Visitor Center at 9:30 AM.
Parking: Visitors can park in the Carpinteria State Beach Day Use parking area for $10. You may also park on Palm Avenue or Linden Avenue next to the park entrance for free.
What to Expect: Join our State Park interpreters for an End-of-the-Year Walk from the Carpinteria SB Visitor Center to the Harbor Seal Rookery on December 31 at 9:30 a.m. This easy walk will include a discussion on the natural and cultural history of Carpinteria SB.
Length of Hike: 2.0 mile, 2 hours
Preparation: Please wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes and bring a water bottle and jacket for chilly weather.
Special Instructions: In case of rainy weather, our walk will be postponed.
Ages: All ages welcome! Children must be accompanied by an adult.
