At a time when many Americans question democratic institutions, One Person, One Vote? is a nonpartisan examination of the Electoral College, the uniquely American and often misunderstood mechanism for electing a president. The documentary follows four presidential electors during 2020 – a Republican, a Democrat, a Green Party elector, and a bonafide elector for Kanye West.

The film also recalls the often-forgotten role of slavery in its creation and how, throughout American history, it has dramatically impacted American politics and society at large. Today, many Americans do not comprehend either the mechanisms of the Electoral College or the reasons why it exists. One Person, One Vote? offers an understanding of the institution, revealing its origins in a bygone era and its centrality to questions of the modern day.
