Chi-Town Miles

About the Event

PUMA's Chi-Town Miles is an exciting night of one-mile races on the track! All levels of runners are welcome and will be grouped by pace for different heats that get progressively faster as the night goes on.

5:00 p.m. - Kids Dash

100 meters (1-4 year olds)

400 meters (5-10 year olds)

5:20 p.m. - Wheelchair Division Mile

5:45 p.m. - Open K - Heat 1 - One-Mile (Entries 10:20 to 15:00+)

6:05 p.m. - Open J - Heat 2 - One-Mile (Entries 9:15 to 10:15)

6:25 p.m. - Open I - Heat 3 - One-Mile (Entries 8:05 to 9:10)

6:40 p.m. - Open H - Heat 4 - One-Mile (Entries 7:30 to 8:00)

6:55 p.m. - Open G - Heat 5 - One-Mile (Entries 6:52 to 7:25)

7:08 p.m. - Open F - Heat 6 - One-Mile (Entries 6:34 to 6:50)

7:21 p.m. - Open E - Heat 7 - One-Mile (Entries 6:05 to 6:30)

7:35 p.m. - Open D - Heat 8 - One-Mile (Entries 5:53 to 6:00)

7:47 p.m. - Open C - Heat 9 - One-Mile (Entries 5:30 to 5:45)

8:00 p.m. - Open B - Heat 10 - One-Mile (Entries 5:02 to 5:26)

8:10 p.m. - Open A - Heat 11 - One-Mile (Entries 4:52 to 5:00)

8:20 p.m. - Open Women - Heat 12 - One-Mile (Entries 5:45 to 6:10)

8:30 p.m. - Open Men - Heat 13 - One-Mile (Entries 4:35 to 4:50)

8:40 p.m. - PUMA NITRO Mile (Top Women) - Heat 14 - One-Mile (Entries 4:50 to 5:40)

8:50 p.m. - PUMA NITRO Mile (Top Men) - Heat 15 - One-Mile (Entries 4:15 to 4:30)

9:00 p.m. - Overall Awards Ceremony

Kids Dash

A kid focused, coach led warm-up will be held before the dash start.

Kids aged 1-4 will do a 100-meter dash.

Kids aged 5-10 will do a 400-meter dash.

Kids Dash participants will receive a participation ribbon. A shirt isnotprovided.

Results will not be produced for the Kids Dash. A display clock will be at the finish.

​Results / Timing

Results for the one-mile will be posted at the event and on the website. Our official timer will use FinishLynx timing. Finish placement will be determined using USATF rules (when the finisher's torso crosses the finish line).

​One-Mile Awards

Overall awards for the top 3 finishers in the PUMA NITRO Mile heats.

Age group awards for the top 3 males and females in each age-group (14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85 and over). Age group standings will be compiled by combining all heat results.

Overall award winners will not be counted for age group awards. Awards will be mailed within approximately two weeks of the event.

​One-Mile Prize Money

A total of $5,000 in prize money will be awarded to the top five athletes in the PUMA NITRO Mile heats.

First: $1,000

Second: $750

Third: $400

Fourth: $250

Fifth: $100

Note: Should athletes with remaining high school eligibility place in the top five, they will not receive prize money. Collegiate athletes whose association allows accepting prize money must submit a letter from their schools compliance officer post-race approving the distribution of prize money before it will be paid. Should the prize money for any specific place not be paid out due to the above, other athletes will not be moved up in prize money amounts.
