Social connections are essential for optimum health. Connection planning is an evidence-informed strategy to reduce or prevent loneliness and isolation and increase connection and support.
Dr. Kimberly Van Orden, an associate professor in the department of psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center and an authority on the effects of social isolation and connectedness in older adults, will describe the rationale and procedures for connection planning. She will walk attendees through the process of creating their own connection plan as a way to bolster their health and well-being.
