You are invited to join AARP’s Executive Vice President and Chief Advocacy and Engagement Officer Nancy LeaMond as she hosts Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, the Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), for a roundtable discussion exploring ways that Medicare is now supporting family caregivers, including a new CMS rule that allows health care professionals in Medicare to be paid solely for time spent training family caregivers.
This new rule is a monumental step in supporting family caregivers who are increasingly taking on caregiving duties at home, including help with activities like
- eating
- bathing
- dressing
- mobility
- communication
- behavior management and
- managing multiple medications but have not always received the training and education they need to manage these tasks.
Hear first-hand from national leaders, a health care provider and family caregiver as they delve into the new caregiver training policy, other steps Medicare is taking, and how these will benefit America’s family caregivers who provide an estimated $600 billion in unpaid care each year.
Please note: The event is free and light refreshments will be provided.
Validated parking garage costs will be covered. You will need to bring photo identification and check in at security.
Use the Women & Infant Health Building (Lobby C) entrance and park in Garage C. VHC Campus Map
