Join AARP to hear about the legacy of British icon, Matt Monro.
About the Event
From his beginnings in the working-class neighborhood of Shoreditch in London to an internationally acclaimed star, Matt Monro became one of Britain’s most iconic singers with one the most melodious of voices. Dr. Gil Gigliotti’s talk will discuss Monro’s life, collaborators, and hits (including “Portrait of My Love,” “From Russia with Love,” and “Born Free”), as well as his wildly popular Spanish-language records and constant touring throughout Europe, the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Africa, before his premature death in 1985.
