Research has shown that laughter can benefit our physical and mental health.
About the Event
As part of our Healthy Living series, AARP Rhode Island is pleased to offer a virtual class in laughter yoga. Come learn how to make laughter a daily practice!
Laughter yoga combines laughing exercises with yoga breathing techniques to bring oxygen to our body and brain. Laughter Yoga leader and founder of the Providence Laughter Club Larry O’Brien will take us through this yoga workout involving movement and breathing along with intentional laughing.
Laughter Yoga International notes on its website that health benefits of laughing include helping to reduce stress, make the immune system stronger and keep the mind positive. According to PositivePsychology.com, intentional laughter appears to have benefits similar to those of spontaneous laughter. Please consult your physician before beginning any new exercise regimen.
