Bon Odori, “Bon Dance,” is a style of dancing performed during Obon, an annual Buddhist event for commemorating ones’ ancestors, whose spirits are believed to temporarily return to visit their relatives during Obon. It is celebrated throughout Hawaii and the community is a welcome part of the celebrations.
