AARP and Q Wellness have teamed up to bring your Virtual Yoga classes that you can do at home.
The yoga classes will include mindfulness breathing practices, relieve stress, increase range of motion, improve circulation, accommodate a range of physical ability levels, and create a sense of member community to combat isolation. The events will provide members the opportunity to engage, explore and enjoy the activity together. Instruction includes many modifications to account for varying ability levels; however, for their safety, not all classes are for everybody, based on physical capability, since this is a virtual event with no assistance.
August 13: Chair Yoga Class is conducted seated in a straight chair (folding, or dining/kitchen style – not an office chair with wheels) and standing. It is accessible for ALL bodies, all shapes and sizes. Intent of the class is to offset the body aches encountered with desk work, and to allow a yoga class for bodies not able to get up from and down to the floor.
August 20-Hatha Yoga Class is an alignment-based, active movement event, with standing, bending, reaching the floor, sitting, lying, and strength movements. This class requires basic yoga equipment of sticky mat and foam blocks, in addition to the household items of dishtowel, and folded blanket or bath towel.
August 27- Yin Yoga Class is easy, slow, deep stretching, seated and lying down, to relax and de-stress. No yoga experience or yoga mat required; rug, carpet, or blanket recommended.
September 3- iRest Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation, allowing the participants to lay back on their sofa, floor, or bed, as comfortably as possible, close their eyes and listen to the message as they follow along in the somatic experience. Everybody benefits from this “yoga nap time” that reduces stress and nourishes wellbeing.
