Want to make our rivers safer to swim and boat in? You can help!

Our rivers and streams are so much cleaner since the first Clean Water Act was passed in 1972, but there are still times when water may not be clean enough for swimming or boating. E. coli bacteria is an "indicator" in the water for human pathogens (bacteria, viruses, and other diseases) that might make people sick if they use the water for swimming or boating.

You can help us wherever you live on the Connecticut River Watershed as a volunteers, to collect water samples from given locations and send them to our labs for testing by our extraordinary team of scientists! we are looking for volunteers from April through October!

Contact afornier@ctriver.org for more information and signing up, or call (413)772-2020 Ext. 207.
