Need a volunteer to manage Seniors Vs. Crime operations in Duval County.

The home base of operations will be an office location either at the Jacksonville Sheriffメs Office Zone 6 on Dunn Ave or at the Better Business Bureau office on Beach Blvd. The Manager will chose which office he/she prefers as home base.

Work involves getting tasks done through people. This is the most difficult position Seniors Vs. Crime has to offer as a volunteer opportunity.

The most important three things you will do as a successful manager are to delegate, delegate and delegate. Volunteers come to Seniors Vs. Crime to do meaningful work. Our volunteers work to resolve conflict between two warring parties or to perform public speaking. We deal with people who want to cheat others out of their money. We return thousands of dollars to people who were cheated. We keep elderly women in their homes when they are threatened with eviction by fraud. We protect parents from unscrupulous children.

We make the helpless whole. Our volunteers feel great when they have helped someone keep their quality of life. Our best Managers match incoming cases and presentations to volunteers with experience. Our best Managers do not take the cases and presentations for themselves. Volunteers come to work; not to watch our Managers do the work.

Our successful Managers accomplish through the work of volunteers, do the least amount of direct work on the missions, are people persons, trust their people to do the right things, have a strong moral compass, have experience in delegation in their past career, like helping people, appreciate the big picture of doing good for Florida seniors.

Also, keeping a balance of doing the good work and having a quality of life for themselves (grandkids are important), understand chain of command, are experts at making volunteers feel good about themselves, and are comfortable with computers or can find someone who is comfortable to do required monthly reporting.

We prepare you to do the missions. We train you in everything you need to know and do. You are reimbursed for expenses and travel you incur. You are paid no salary. You are a volunteer.

You will report to the Region 3 Director. He is a retired police sergeant from Orlando. He reports to an Executive Director who is a retired Vermont State Police Major. Our Executive Director works for a Board of retired elder law attorneys and law enforcement types. Our funding comes from the Florida Attorney General. The Region 1 Director is a retired sergeant from New York Police. The Region 4 Director is a retired Chief of Police from a northern small city. Seniors vs. Crime has a police mentality. We follow procedure. We play fair. We intend to win.

We donメt care what sex or color you are. We care about age. We want you to be old. Old means experience and bringing the best of what you already know to bear on leading our valuable volunteers. Your regional director is 75. All the command staff is about the same age. A few of the Region 3 Managers are in their eighties.

Volunteering commits you to nothing. You have to be vetted by our staff and trained before you are expected to do anything. You can volunteer by signing up on the website at www.seniorsvscrime.com. Look for the blue boxes that say VOULUNTEER. Enter your information one screen at a time.

After you submit, you will be sent an email with the next steps and a staff person will call you. Or you may call our 800 number and ask for a return phone call. 800-203-3099.

Volunteering online works best for you and for us. Saves a lot of time.

If you are a people person, like to help people, believe in doing the right things, are comfortable talking to people, like to be around police occasionally, like to accomplish by leading others, and can take and give direction, you are the one for us.
