As a volunteer at the Honolulu Habitat ReStore, located in the Kalihi neighborhood of Oahu, you will: ユ Experience the heart and soul of Oahu's working class community ユ Apply your creative skills and produce a visible difference ユ Create something new or restore an item back to life for resale in the ReStore ユ Meet new friends who share the goal of giving back to Hawaiメi ユ Make a difference in our community ユ Discover a unique souvenir in our discount warehouse ユ Build aloha and be embraced by its spirit Volunteering at the Honolulu Habitat for Humanity ReStore gives you an opportunity to be part of a mission to help families in need of owning simple, decent, affordable homes. Help support Habitatメs mission by volunteering for a few hours a week at the Honolulu Habitat ReStore. Habitat for Humanity Restores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials and home accessories to the public -- at a fraction of retail prices. Proceeds from those sales raise additional funds to support Habitatメs mission of eliminating substandard housing and homelessness, and making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Requirements: ユ Ages 14 years of age and older ユ Must wear close toed shoes ユ Must sign up at www.honoluluhabitat.org/volunteering ユ Signed waiver required prior to volunteering Notes: ユ Water is provided, but bring a reusable bottle ユ Personal protection gear is provided (gloves, eyewear, hardhats) ユ ReStore is not climate controlled; warehouse may be hot & dusty ユ With advanced clearance, ReStore may sign off on service hours and provide letters of appreciation ユ Preferred ability to lift 50lbs (23kg) ユ Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty ユ Snacks allowed (refrigerator on site) The Honolulu Habitat for Humanity ReStore invites you to help Build Communities, Homes and Hope for the People of Hawaii!
How This Helps Our Community
The Honolulu Habitat for Humanity mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. Volunteer support is vital to our success. When Honolulu Habitat ReStore volunteers share their valued experiences with colleagues, friends, and family, they help Honolulu Habitat expand its community outreach. Expanded outreach helps the ReStore recruit and retain volunteers who are able to donate a few hours a week for months at a time, and increase donations of new and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials and home accessories from individuals and businesses. Honolulu Habitat ReStore volunteers work with staff to complete daily tasks associated with operating a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center, as well work as projects that would otherwise take weeks to finish. Volunteers provide customer service, organize the sales floor, help process donations, and repurpose and refurbish donated items that are then sold in the ReStore. Proceeds from those sales help fund the Honolulu Habitat mission of building homes for partner families. Mahalo for supporting the Honolulu Habitat for Humanity mission, and for taking the time to Build Communities, Homes and Hope for the People of Hawaii!
