AARP's Legal Counsel for the Elderly champions the dignity and rights of Washington, D.C.'s elderly by providing free legal and social services to those in need - empowering, defending and protecting vulnerable seniors. SHO has six community-based locations to help D.C. seniors at partnering sites, including churches and senior centers.

The volunteer may assist clients with obtaining legal information, self-help guides, public benefits checkups, applications for public benefits, drafting consumer complaint letters, referrals to social service agencies, assistance filing small claims cases, and/or information on requests for vital records.
