ESOL Volunteer Needed!
Who We're Looking For:
An enthusiastic and open-minded volunteer who can come in from 9:30 am-12 pm on any weekday(s) to assist our certified teachers in running their ESOL classes.
About the Program:
Every weekday morning, Refugees Helping Refugees (RHR) holds ESOL classes for any refugees or immigrants who are interested in learning English and/or are required to attend classes to receive their government benefits.
There are currently two class levels of English being held:
Beginner-Intermediate and Intermediate-Advanced. Both classes are taught by certified teachers from the Office of Adult and Career Education Services (OACES) and are supported by our ESOL volunteers.
Responsibilities and Duties:
As an ESOL volunteer, you will assist the OACES teachers as they run the classes. These specific tasks may include:
- Going around the classroom and seeing which students may need help with an exercise
- Leading the class during certain lessons/exercises
- Working with our students one-on-one
- Making photocopies of worksheets
In addition, you will maintain contact with the Volunteer Coordinator and give notice whenever you are not available.
