Qualifications: Although not required, strong and demonstrated experience teaching, facilitating, and public speaking is a plus. Ability to empathize and work with diverse populations is necessary, as well as access to email and the internet. A working knowledge of various video presentation technologies is very helpful..
About the program: AARP Driver Safety was first launched in 1970 as the "55 Alive" program to help keep older drivers safe, confident, independent, and connected in their communities.
Today, AARP Driver Safety continues to meet needs of older drivers with the help of 4,500 unpaid volunteers nationwide and through leading educational programs, including the award-winning AARP Smart Driver course, CarFit, WeNeed to Talk, and the new Smart DriverTEK programs.
The flagship AARP Smart Driver course is the nation's largest classroom and onlune driver safety course, and is designed specifically for drivers age 50 and older. In Oregon, participants who complete this course may be eligible for a discount on their auto insurance premiums.
More than 17 million drivers have completed AARP Driver Safety educational programs, which are available in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and US Territories.
