that we can do extraordinary things.
Disaster Action Team (DAT) volunteers respond to
disasters in our community.
The vast majority of local disasters are home
fires. These fires may involve one home or an
entire complex. In cases where the residents need
assistance, the Red Cross is called to respond.
The DAT team on-call then reports to the scene
to offer comfort to those affected and to manage
logistics involved in arranging lodging, assessing
damages, and providing monetary assistance if
All disaster assistance is free to clients, provided
through the generosity of the American public.
American Red Cross of Massachusetts is available 24
hours a day, 7 days a week to assist individuals and
families displaced by natural and man-made disasters.
