Are you a loving individual who enjoys spending time others?
Do you have a big heart and couple hours a week to share?
Maybe you've been a caregiver for a loved one and know how valuable it is to have a break?
Can you make a reliable commitment to someone who may not have many (or any) visitors?
If so, you may be our best new hospice volunteer!
We are currently recruiting for Patient Care Volunteers to share an hour or two a week to read to, chat, sing or simply offer the gift of companionship with our hospice patients who don't have many visitors, or whose family members need a break from caregiving to take care of errands or their own health. At Kindred Hospice we offer compassionate care for patients and their families facing life-limiting illnesses. We'd love your help in providing "circles of home" for individuals entering the final stages of life.
Volunteers may visit patients at home or in facilities. Hours are flexible, and the type of commitment varies from patient to patient.
We are looking for volunteers in all areas of Chicagoland with a particular emphasis on Romeoville, Plainfield and Bolingbrook.
All volunteer positions require a Physical and two step TB test, a fingerprinting background check, and a drug screen - paid for by Kindred. Training and ongoing supervision are provided by our staff, and no previous hospice or health care experience is required - just a willingness to help!
