History:
In 1997, we purchased a beautiful piece of farmland in Little Compton, Rhode Island. Since farming has been in Tyler's blood for generations, we jumped at the opportunity to follow his passion of growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers for our local community.
When Tyler's first strawberry crop was ready to be picked, we decided to sell the beautiful berries on a picnic table on our front lawn. As locals and summer visitors soon discovered our farm fresh berries, Tyler began growing a variety of vegetables for our "locavore" customers. As what started as a small wholesale potato business, the farm soon grew into a diversified wholesale and retail operation with the help of our three daughters Emma, Hattie, and Sarah. The lawn soon became too small for our fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers which lead to the opening of our retail farm stand in 2006, just in time for the first apple crop! Now, our products can be found at grocery stores throughout New England and at our retail stand, located at 260 West Main Road in Little Compton.
From planting to picking, Young Family Farm is in operation from March through November. The doors to the retail stand are open from May to Thanksgiving. During these months, our "Locavore" customers enjoy our farm fresh annuals, perennials, fruits, vegetables, and various events.
