The mission of the Yorktown High School Community is to provide an atmosphere where all students strive to reach their full potential, embrace life-long learning, practice ethical conduct, develop tolerance of others, and demonstrate respect for themselves and our world.

Yorktown High School is a comprehensive high school offering general, college preparatory, and vocational programs. The school offers an extensive curriculum in all major disciplines. Yorktown High School is accredited by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges. The school is also a member of the College Board. Special programs at YHS include Honors Language Arts/Social Studies for freshman and sophomores; Advanced Placement classes in English, biology, chemistry, and American history; learning disabilities program; study skills; and an extensive computer curriculum. Vocational programs include Vocational Business Office Service, Marketing, Distributing Education and a School to Work Internship which is available to all students.
