About Us:

In 1959, the Wirt County Fair was held for the first time at Camp Barbe. The event started out with the bare essentials for such a venue. There were few facilities for livestock displays, no show ring, and no pavilion or stage for entertaining the crowds. Over the years, the fair has grown, and facilities have been built to accommodate our expansion. Barns were erected for the livestock, show and sale ring was constructed, and a permanent scale house was built. In the early 1970s, an entertainment pavilion was put in. A multi-purpose track was installed in the 1980s, and in 2007 new restroom and shower facilities were built. The Wirt County Fair is now the only scheduled event held in the county that provides an opportunity for every attendee, regardless of age, to participate in the many daily events. Our board members strive to plan the fair to maintain the traditional American county fair atmosphere. Over the years, our 4-H and FFA members have been blessed with good livestock sales thanks to the excellent support of our buyers. As a result, public interest and enthusiasm for our youth programs has continued to grow and flourish. The Wirt County Fair Board wishes to thank everyone who has helped the fair grow and be successful over the years.
