Mission And Vision:
The William King Museum of Art is a visual arts and cultural heritage museum serving the residents of Abingdon and the surrounding communities as well as visitors who are seeking enjoyable and enriching visual arts experiences. The Museum’s mission is to develop original contemporary and fine art exhibitions that celebrate the diversity of artistic talent and current trends in our region; to preserve the cultural heritage of the region through original exhibitions and our permanent archives; and to provide an extensive arts education program that serves school and public audiences both inside and outside of the Museum. We are committed to being a forum for social and cultural engagement in the community and hosting visual art exhibitions and programs of local, national and global significance that are intellectually, socially, culturally and physically accessible to everyone—particularly for those with little or no other access to the arts.
