This course is well known for its large greens. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 8th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. Only a few golfers are willing to walk this long course because the terrain is so rigorous.
Sand bunkers have been incorporated throughout the entire design, and water hazards come into play on ten holes. The signature hole is #16, a 220-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot from off a hillside tee box and down to a green fronted by a pond. The course takes a unique approach in positioning its ladies' tee box. It is set up short so the second shot will be in the area of the men's second shot.
