Webster C Hall Vineyards

2120 Webster Corner Road
Callaway, VA 24067

Although our name was not established in the Spring of 2002, our vineyard was! With a strong commitment and passion for starting a small farm winery, Jesse Webster and Charles Hall, soon joined by Steve Claytor, gathered friends and family to help plant Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot vines. Strategically located in the beautiful Callaway area of Franklin County, our vineyard has thrived in the warm mountain breezes and granite soils high above the headwaters of the Blackwater River.

Through years of attention and care, including the assistance of many local vineyards and educational resources, the Bordeaux style grapes flourished. The exceptional fruit quality also attracted many of our neighboring inhabitants, including deer, turkey, grouse and raccoons. Heeding local wisdom, we introduced what we affectionately referred to as "The Guardian of the Grape", the lovable "Barking Beagle". In the waning dog days of August, as the fruit completes its magical transformation to wine grape, adding sugars, rich flavors and color complexities with soft tannins, the friendly and affable Beagle roams the vineyard to help discourage our native neighbors from a tempting meal.

Webster C. Hall Vineyards was officially established in 2008. This was also the start of our partnership with Virginia Wine Works, under the direction of winemaker, Michael Shaps. While likely one of the smaller licensed vineyards and the Commonwealth, our specially crafted Boudreaux style wines are produced locally and served proudly. We hope you enjoy.
