Wayne Potter Memorial Skateboard Park

Sheridan City Park on Box Street
Sheridan, OR 97378

History:

The community came together and consulted with a local architect -who also helped design the Salem skatepark- and received rebar from Copelands and concrete from Wickersham at cost and free labor from the Oregon National Guard, completing the $110,000 park with $40,000 in 1997.  It is 10,000 sq feet and apparently one of the most used parks in the state.  Some young men told us that the bleachers fill up and the park sees 20-50 people everday.

Facilities:

Bathrooms, fountain, city park

Directions:

In between Newberg (Portland) and Lincoln City (coast) along Hwy 18, take the Sheridan exit.  Drive through town on S. Bridge St..  After crossing over the river and at the light go right (east) on Main St.  Go a couple blocks and then left on Box St., which ends at the City Park.
