Washington Square Music Festival

New York, NY 10014

About Us:

Our always free concerts, programmed by Music Director Lutz Rath, offer familiar and adventurous musical evenings of chamber orchestra, opera, vocals, and jazz performances that delight and educate our large and diverse audiences.

The Festival was founded in 1953 by violinist Alexander Schneider and the Washington Square Association, a civic organization since 1906. It is the second oldest outdoor free classical music series in New York, the Naum-burg series being the eldest.
