About Us:

Welcome to Western Connecticut State University's School of Visual and Performing Arts (SVPA), recognized as one of the region's distinctive public university programs in the arts. Only 60 miles from New York City and located in the scenic foothills of New England's Berkshires, the school offers a high quality arts education at the relatively affordable cost of a public university, all housed in a stunning 130,000 square foot Visual and Performing Art Center.

This new state-of-the-art facility provides art, music and theatre arts students with the opportunity to work side-by side with an outstanding faculty of internationally recognized artists, directors, designers, performers, and scholars in a highly inspiring and professional environment. Small class sizes affording individual attention and an inclusive atmosphere are trademarks of our commitment to providing a supportive yet demanding learning environment where our students prepare for careers in the visual and performing arts.
