The Villa Rica Public Library is a member of the West Georgia Regional Library System which includes: Carroll, Paulding, Douglas and Haralson Counties and is also part of the state-wide PINES network.Curious about the history of the Villa Rica Public Library? Following is a timeline of important events that helped to shape the library into the state-of-the-art information center it is today.

First library opens in the old Powell-Berry-Powell Medical Center with Carrie Penrose Holloway serving as the first librarian. The library is the result of work by a group of citizens interested in securing a library for the city. In October, Ruth Moore joins the library staff. Liz Candler, library board chairman, asks board members to be conscious of long-range plans which included searching for library for a new library building.Library moves from Carroll Road facility to 70 Horace Luther Drive. Facility opened to the public on Monday, January 13. Formal Open House and Dedication ceremonies set for Sunday, April 5th.
